St. Pete reporter wins award for series on drug testing

Congratulations to Kris Hundley of the St. Petersburg Times, who has received the prestigious Daniel Pearl Award for a series last fall entitled "Testing Grounds: Our Medicine at What Cost?"

The series showed how people in India were affected when drug companies shifted testing on experimental pills to countries in which patients may not be informed about their rights or the side effects. If you didn't see it -- and the photos that went with it -- this would be a good time to revisit it.

The award is named for Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter who was murdered in Pakistan. It was presented by the South Asian Journalists Association.
