Welcome independent, expert reporting on Sarasota health

Today is launch day for Sarasota Health News, a regional version of Health News Florida. Founder and Editor David Gulliver has created what he calls "an online newspaper focusing on the quality of health care and access to medical services in the greater Sarasota area."

Dave's byline has appeared on several articles in Health News Florida since he was laid off from the Sarasota Herald Tribune. We plan to continue featuring his reports whenever he has time to do them. 

It took real courage for the father of 3-year-old twins to go into public-service journalism at a time when there is no clear way to sustain it financially. Health News Florida has been fortunate to receive start-up support from a collaborative of Florida foundations, but we too face the necessity of building a base of donors and sponsors.
